Tasseled is the only source of institutional data that reflects what's actually true right now.
Our data sets
Academic
Degree requirements
- Major requirements
- General education requirements
- Course details from catalogs
School requirements
- University requirements
- Community college requirements
State requirements
- All applicable state requirements
Academic requirements are constantly changing. New majors, revised general education rules, updated course catalogs, shifting state mandates. No third-party vendor, government data set, or institutional feed keeps up. We collect academic data directly from every institution and update continuously, so every plan reflects what's required right now.
Every degree plan we generate reflects the current academic requirements at the student's institution. When the data updates, the plans update with it.
Transfer
Transfer information
- Statewide articulation agreements
- Institutional equivalency tables
Transfer requirements
- Minimum transfer credit requirements
- Maximum transfer credit allowances
Transfer equivalencies change every time an institution updates its agreements, and they're scattered across thousands of statewide and institutional tables. Tasseled centralizes all of it and updates continuously, so every transfer recommendation reflects what institutions currently accept.
A plan built on outdated transfer data isn't a plan. It's a liability. We update continuously, and never deviate from what the institution has documented. Their requirements, applied exactly as written.
Tuition & Fees
Tuition
- Per-credit tuition
- Annual tuition
- Full-time credit thresholds
Fees
- One-time fees
- Per credit fees
- Per course fees
- Per semester fees
Tuition isn't priced the same way across institutions. Some charge per credit, some annually, and many mix both with full-time credit thresholds that change the math entirely once a student crosses them. We collect every pricing structure directly from every institution, updated to the latest academic year, and apply the right one to every plan.
IPEDS is what every ranking, every third-party product, and every public comparison tool is built on. It runs two years behind, only distinguishes in-state from out-of-state, and captures none of the pricing complexity that determines what a student actually pays. An entire industry is operating on data that doesn't reflect what college actually costs. You can't solve an affordability crisis with approximations. So we collect our own.
Our mission is to make America's higher education system affordable.
Every available data source is too outdated, too shallow, or too riddled with errors to support that mission. None of them tell a student what their specific degree will cost, what currently transfers, or what plan gets them through fastest.
So we built our own. It's the only way to solve this problem. First for one state. Then for all of them.
